Profile

President & CEO, CACL Inc.
Junichi Okuyama
Born on April 6, 1984, in Gifu Prefecture.
Inspired by witnessing his mother become isolated from society due to a serious illness, he founded a company in 2012 that provided welfare services for people with disabilities. The company expanded to more than 20 locations throughout the Hokuriku region before its business was transferred in 2022.
In 2023, he established CACL Inc., a company that integrates traditional crafts—facing issues such as labor shortages and succession—with welfare services for people with disabilities. During a visit to a Kutani ware kiln, he saw ceramic fragments discarded as non-standard items. These fragments reminded him of how people with disabilities are often excluded from society, which inspired him to begin experimenting with ways to repurpose ceramic shards.
When the Noto Peninsula Earthquake struck on New Year’s Day 2024, he initiated efforts to reconnect and restore damaged Kutani ware, creating new employment opportunities for Wajima lacquerware artisans affected by the disaster, and established a temporary workshop within CACL.
