●An initiative to connect the memory of the earthquake to the future
On December 10, 2024, the Rediscover project began selling chopstick rests made from Kutani Yaki porcelain pieces damaged in the earthquake at the 21st Century Museum of Contemporary Art, Kanazawa Museum Shop.
●The Kutani Yaki porcelain pieces were given a new lease of life
These chopstick rests are made from recycled Kutani Yaki porcelain pieces that were broken in the earthquake, and each chopstick rest has a different texture. This unique item allows visitors to rediscover the beauty of traditional craftsmanship.
●Environment and Culture for the Future
The production process of Kutani Yaki inevitably results in the production of non-standard pieces of pottery. The number of such pieces, which increased due to the damage caused by the earthquake, is reused instead of being disposed of as waste, thereby ensuring both the continuation of culture and environmental protection.
