CACL Inc. (Nomi City, Ishikawa Prefecture, Representative Director: Junichi Okuyama, hereafter “CACL”) participated in the special collaborative tasting event, “Mirai-Shoku × Kakera Plate,” at “Dream Day at the Zoo 2025 in Adventure World,” held on Wednesday, November 5, 2025, at Adventure World (Shirahama Town, Wakayama Prefecture). The event invited children with disabilities and their families to enjoy a private experience in the park, fostering inclusive interactions through “food.”

The project aimed to envision a future where “everyone can enjoy food together.” It brought together Mishima Foods Co., Ltd., the developer of the universal food “Mirai-Shoku,” and the nonprofit organization mogmog engine, which addresses social issues through food-related initiatives. Kurofooding Co., Ltd. (Le Clos Group), a company that creates employment opportunities for people with disabilities, also joined as a co-creator, collectively shaping a special tasting event that redefines the role of food in society.

The tasting was held at Adventure World’s universal restaurant “Jambo.” Guests were served “Mirai-Shoku” on “Kakera Plates,” which are created by upcycling fragments of Kutani ware damaged in the Noto earthquake. The dishes were served by cast members working at Kurofooding (Le Clos Group), who shared thoughtful explanations about both the meals and the plates.

A workshop was also hosted at the venue, offering guests the chance to create hair accessories using fragments of Kutani ware. The most popular design was a cat-shaped frame. Children freely selected the parts, resulting in numerous unique and expressive creations.

CACL and its “Rediscover project” continue to explore ways of redefining the value of ceramic fragments damaged or discarded after the earthquake. The company also operates a continuous employment support facility, guided by the belief that “a society where things are valued leads to a society where people are valued.” This event provided a warm experience where diverse people and objects naturally intersected, creating meaningful relationships within a shared space.

CACL Inc. will continue to expand its initiatives through a range of collaborations and creative experiments.

About “Dream Day at the Zoo”

“Dream Day at the Zoo” is an international program that invites children with disabilities and their families to zoos and aquariums, allowing them to enjoy time together without worry. The initiative began in 1996 at Rotterdam Zoo in the Netherlands. Initially known as “Dream Night at the Zoo,” where families were invited to facilities after closing hours, the program spread worldwide. When held during daytime hours, it is renamed “Dream Day at the Zoo.”

About CACL Inc.

CACL Inc. is based in Nomi City, Ishikawa Prefecture, an area known for its Kutani ware. The company addresses two intersecting social challenges: the shortage of successors in traditional crafts, and the limited employment opportunities and low wages faced by people with disabilities. To tackle these issues, CACL develops projects that combine craftsmanship with inclusive employment, producing art pieces and products made from reassembled ceramic fragments.

Following the 2024 Noto Peninsula earthquake, CACL launched the “Stand with NOTO” project as part of its recovery support efforts. This initiative established temporary workshops for Wajima lacquerware artisans and created job opportunities. The company also launched the “Rediscover project,” an expanded art initiative that integrates fragments of Kutani ware with Suzu ware and Wajima lacquer techniques. Artworks made from fragments damaged in the earthquake were exhibited at the 21st Century Museum of Contemporary Art, Kanazawa, in the exhibition “Dancing with Every Thing — Ecologies of Empathy.”

In July of this year, CACL launched “KAKERA,” an experimental brand aimed at redefining the value of discarded or non-standard traditional crafts by exploring and producing new materials and products from ceramic fragments. The brand has collaborated with Parfums Givenchy and initiated a joint project with LIXIL and Yuko Nagayama & Associates to carry the traditional landscapes of Noto into the future.
