CACL to Host Co-Curated Exhibition “We Are All Fragments” at AWASE gallery in Shinjuku, Tokyo

December.19.2025

news

CACL Inc. (CEO: Junichi Okuyama) will host a co-curated exhibition with AWASE gallery, titled “We Are All Fragments,” from Saturday, January 10 to Sunday, January 25, 2026, at AWASE gallery in Shinjuku, Tokyo.

During the exhibition period, CACL will collaborate with intoART, an art-based learning platform operated by Gotoschool Inc., to host a ceramic fragment workshop for children, alongside several public talk sessions.
Reservations for all related events open today.

At the venue, visitors will be able to view a comprehensive overview of CACL’s activities to date, including works from the “one mesh” series—such as small plates and serving dishes—as well as “textone-NOTO-KAWARA,” a building material sample made from black Noto roof tiles. This work was realized through a triple collaboration between CACL, LIXIL Corporation, and Yuko Nagayama & Associates, and was first announced in September 2025.
In addition, the chopstick rest “HASHI STAND,” which will also be created during workshops, will be exhibited and available for purchase.

intoART, operated by Gotoschool Inc., is a learning platform that fosters independent thinking and expressive skills through art, welcoming participants from children to students and adults.

【Event ② During the Exhibition】Talk Session / “Design Approaches to Social Issues”

How can we find engaging and inspiring solutions to social challenges and translate them into design?
How can objects deemed “valueless” by society be transformed into new possibilities?

Starting with the Noto roof tile project collaboratively undertaken by three companies (see note below), this session explores methods of discovering and expressing new value from architectural, artistic, and cultural perspectives. Each speaker will unpack their approach based on their own professional standpoint.

Comments from Related Parties

Junichi Okuyama, CEO, CACL Inc.

We were approached by AWASE gallery—run by young architect Riku Matsui of Yuko Nagayama & Associates and contemporary artist Kohei Yamada—about this collaborative exhibition. Having worked together previously and with their deep understanding of our activities, we were truly delighted by the invitation.

It has been two and a half years since CACL began its activities. While we have developed brands such as the Rediscover Project and KAKERA, this is the first exhibition to comprehensively look back on CACL’s journey.
This time, we will focus on workshops and talk sessions, alongside exhibiting and selling our works.

The exhibition also poses questions about the relationship between our work and the visitors themselves. Some visitors may be regular gallery-goers with a deep interest in art, while others may be stepping into a gallery for the first time.
In this unique space operated by architects and artists, we hope visitors will enjoy the “place” itself—a space made possible precisely because of its openness and room for interpretation.

Riku Matsui, Director, AWASE gallery

Our direct connection with Mr. Okuyama of CACL began during Yuko Nagayama’s solo exhibition “Things That Could Surely Exist” held at our gallery in September 2025, where exhibited works were presented through a charity auction to support the collection and preservation of roof tiles from homes destroyed in the Noto Peninsula Earthquake.

As January marks two years since the earthquake, we reached out to Mr. Okuyama, who continues to work actively in the Noto region.
In addition to exhibiting works, this exhibition will feature talk sessions and workshops addressing a variety of themes.
We aim to convey CACL’s activities, in which fragments of craft, history, values, and awareness are woven together to create diverse forms.

Kosuke Nakamura, Exhibition Director

At the core of CACL’s activities lies a strong sense of personal engagement with social division, which gives their work a striking and pure brilliance.
Their creative process—accepting sharp edges without sanding them down—reveals a deep affection for fragments themselves, as well as a powerful ability to design the connective tissue of society.

To connect fragments, one must not only understand their individual shapes, but also grasp the relationships between them and imagine the form of the whole.
The hands-on approach rooted in Noto makes us feel as though we ourselves are part of that relationship.
The exhibition title was inspired by precisely this creative landscape.
